Miscellania is a collection of reinterpretations of older work from 1992-2008. Originally ink and paper sketches, these have now been rendered in brushed acrylic. All pieces are hand painted even though stylistically some pieces imitate the silk screened image. The subject of each piece is a mixture of both the childish and the serious, as I tended to convey dark or disturbing concepts through the use of cartoonish elements.

This is exemplified by “Two Dimensional Thinking,” which is a farcical allegory of Judaic-Islamic relations – two opposing forces like matter and anti-matter are about to high-five each other into oblivion. There is no chance for peace or reconciliation. Their representation as swine points both to the similarity of their histories and faiths, as well as belittling the tendency of their respective institutions to emphasize only their differences in shaping how each should view the other. The title also refers to my own perception of their relationship.
